Of the Ottoman period – hand-written on a waxed surface of date palm fronds, in Muhaqqaq style in the 14th – 15th century with golden borders on each page of surah.  The verse (ayah) hand-written and with the seal, is a highly prized The Holy Quran.  Hand-written in the 16th century with Hijazi script where large coloured dots indicate the tashkil, letters are provided with diacritical points. Abbasid manuscripts – large scripts used and the smaller number of lines per page.  Script and layout turned out to be constructed according to elaborate geometrical and proportional rules.
